My U.S. Navy ship association wanted to honor our three founders by commissioning an oil painting. Searching the Internet for an artist representative, I discovered retired Navy Chief Scott Kimball of True Art. From the onset, Scott was dedicated to an outcome that would make us proud. No detail was ignored, no challenge too difficult; nothing would stand in the way of achieving our dream of a great painting.
It was a demanding project. We needed to portray a destroyer with 27 years of service defending America. But ships change over time as weapons are added and removed, advanced electronics replace obsolete systems and more. But in the end, Scott’s talented artist captured the bold look of a “Greyhound of the Fleet” while incorporating details that made our ship unique.
We expected Founders Richard, George, and Brian to be accurately portrayed, and they were. But more than that, the artist captured the vision they held to found a veterans organization binding shipmates in fellowship and preserving the memory of a valiant ship.
I highly recommend Scott and True Art for a great painting at a fair price. His artistic sense, attention to detail, and devotion to client satisfaction are a combination that’s hard to beat.
